Payment technology – so important to the economy as a whole – has been evolving for years. If for a long time it was thought that the quality and speed of payments could be improved through the development of devices and software (for example with contactless credit cards, or with payments made directly via smartphones, for a few years Industry efforts are focusing on the biometric: why compel the user to identify themselves through a password or a pin that can be hacked, or through an object that can be stolen, when the inimitable proof of the identity of each of us is in our body?

What’s interesting about technology


Fingerprints, pupils, heartbeat, are the characteristics on which the industry is working to enable us to authorize our payments effortlessly. However, the hottest frontier is undoubtedly that of vocal recognition, as confirmed by many of the innovations on show in these days at the Money 20/20 Conference in Amsterdam, dedicated precisely to the future of payments.

The Knomi app, for example, allows you to make payments from your smartphone with a combination of facial recognition and voice recognition. In practice it is to point the camera at yourself as if you wanted to make a selfie, and while the software recognizes your features say aloud: “hello Knomi, I want to buy the object X”. According to the developers of the app, the combination of facial and voice recognition makes payment completely secure.

It costs 120 euros the gem for collectors of pens that from today will be able to showcase their new Pininfarina Space. The storytelling does all the rest: the object that is already cult has been tested by the astronauts of the International Space Station (ISS) orbiting for six months from July 2017 with the last VITA mission, which was also attended by the Italian Paolo Nespoli. Pininfarina Space is part of the Pininfarina Segno project realized in tandem with Napkin Forever dedicated to the creation of accessories for writing, born three years ago and which has already met with great success in the world.
